February 11

Exodus 32:1-6 When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. "Come on," they said, "make us some gods who can lead us. We don't know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt." ....Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, They exclaimed, "O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!" ....The people sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings then celebrated with feasting and drinking.

Oh the many joys of the world! It's easy to love somethings just a little too much or become addicted to them. We hear it all the time, when you leave this world all your possessions stay. So why do we worship all the joys of the world? The scripture goes on and tells us how God became very angry with the people building and worshiping the golden calf. He become so angry he wanted to wipe out all the Israelite's from the earth. Luckily, He loves us so much he has given us another chance. Now we know how much it disappoints God whenever we worship material things over Him, but we still do it. Doesn't make sense.

Lets put down the remote, throw away our addictions, and turn our heads from luxury items and praise our Father for giving us life and leading us on this amazing journey of a lifetime.
